About McCane Construction

Thobrom Ltd (T/A McCane Construction) was founded in 1978 by Professor Terence Lane. Terry was the head of Building Studies at Nottingham Trent University and decided to invest his knowledge of construction in to practice by creating McCane Construction.

Terry is still heavily involved in the company as chairman with Steve Fagg, (one of his proteges) as Manager Director.

In 1987 the company diversified from general building activities to specialise in foundations. For the past 30years McCane Construction have been installing mini piles and reinforced concrete ring beams throughout the Midlands and UK if required.

Working in the ground, with reinforced concrete and working alongside the NHBC as an approved remedial contractor, McCane Construction have been heavily involved in below ground structures. Becoming CSSW certified has allowed the natural progression of the company to provide a total solution for installation of new and existing basements.

In 2017 Andrew Berry completed the PCA (Property Care Association) CSSW (Certified Surveyor Structural Waterproofing) qualification allowing the company to be able to survey, compile, install and certify a waterproofing scheme for the protection of a below ground structure which complies with BS8102. As part of this McCane Construction are able to offer an insurance backed guarantee for our schemes.

Qualifications & Memberships

All directly employed and self-employed staff have a CSCS card and are continually being developed with new training and competency qualifications. All employees have passed their annual asbestos awareness training provided by UCATA and each team has a designated first aider.
